The challenge for this project was to design a custom home for a client who loves to entertain and has specific needs and desires, while also designing a home to be viewed by over 10,000 people at the annual Home Builder’s Parade of Homes. In addition, the schedule to get it all done was quite ambitious!

The site for this home was Rough Hollow Lakeway. We worked with the client’s Realtor to find just the right lot with fantastic lake views. The design then evolved around the views and the need for privacy. Notice how the home wraps around the left side in particular. This is because the neighboring home was very close and needed to be screened.

While we have designed many indoor/outdoor spaces (and won awards for them), this was the first indoor/outdoor dedicated Media Room. In order for it to be effective, we designed a drop-down blackout shade that is electronically controlled to darken the room when the room is closed and being used for a true Media Room. Many other unique features of the home can be seen in the finished home’s photos here.
