Recently completed, this lake front home is a modern hill country style with some of the best views of Lake Travis we’ve seen. The steep topography on the site made it a challenging design for the Jenkins team. The hillside had 75′ of fall from the top of the lot to the lake. The clients were hoping for a one-story home, and the distance across the lot was a little tight as well (around 55′). Fortunately, the team was able to design a beautiful home around all of these obstacles.
The team began with our Lifestyle Analysis interview to determine how these clients live in their home, which rooms they use most often, and how their outdoor living should be integrated into the home. Our architects designed the pool and outdoor living in tandem with the home, and it was decided that the pool should be at the same level as the back of the home. Then, a large sliding pocket exterior door would connect indoors to out. A small covered outdoor living area with fireplace would be easily accessible just off the great room and kitchen, extending the living space to the outdoors.
Almost every room of the home has a lake view, by design. The home is a single-story but has the height of a two-story in places to allow in even more light. In addition to its light and bright living area, it has one of the most amazing shower and saunas we’ve ever built. Since the clients grew up in a much colder climate, it was their dream to have a sauna. Our architects designed an over-the-top integrated shower system and sauna.
